Kids love Christmas and believe in Santa! Some of the kids go behave well, so they can be in Santa’s good list so they can get toys and gifts on Christmas day. I remember as a 8 year old girl, waiting for my barbie doll and my easy bake oven gift on Christmas day and Santa with help of my parents knew just what I wanted. I was simply thrilled.
As an adult since then I have grown out of a few things but I like the magic of gift giving and seeing child eyes light up as they tear open the wrapping paper to see what is inside. It is priceless.
There are many type of toys and kids stuff out there, some of them as a parent you may approve and others you may give in to it. However, there could be a happy balance to give kids toys that both of you could approve. Here are a few fun things that we found that most kids will love.
Best ways to buy things your child will like:
- If your child is under 2, he or she may not be talking too much yet. You can observe him or her to see what he/she likes or excited about. Music, small plastic or wooden pieces (Make sure they are big enough so child does not choke on it) may be a good place to start.
- Your preschooler might be talking and showing signs on what he or she is interested in. it could be Dora, Diego or backyardigans toys, building blocks and musical toys.
- 1st grader and above will know the routine and know what they want, they may want super heroes, princess and prince dress up clothes, painting and art supply, bakugans, or even transformers toys.
- Listening, observing and asking helps to see what the child likes. Some parents like to ask a child to make a list for Santa and pick a gifts from it. Only caution is sometimes child list can be 2 pages long so pick and choose what works for you.
- If it is a high priced item such as cycle or Duplo sets which can be around $100, ask family members to pool in money to get one large gift and some smaller gifts under $5 as well.
- Whatever you decide, it is not the value or how many toys child has, most important thing is to share and play together and create a lifetime of memories.
